Dear rob,
It may be one of the shortest lived legal victories by claimants on record.
The
Court of Appeal today ruled that most of the DWP’s forced labour
schemes were unlawful and that anyone who had been sanctioned under
them should have their lost benefits repaid. Within hours the
government had set about trying to enact new regulations with immediate
effect to reinstate the work for your benefits schemes. They have also
vowed not to repay any sanctioned benefits, despite the judges’ ruling.

DLA and ESA claimants under attack
Attacks on DLA and ESA claimants
Dear rob,
Two days after our December newsletter went out, the DWP dropped a bombshell on disabled claimants. They suddenly revealed, after all the consultations were over, that people wanting to qualify for the higher rate of the personal independence payment (PIP) mobility component will have to show they that they are unable to walk more than 20 metres, rather than the 50 metres generally used for disability living allowance (DLA). The DWP now estimate that over half a million people will miss out on higher rate mobility under PIP compared to DLA.
We’ve published several articles on this issue, including:
PIP higher rate mobility down to 20 metres
Government silent on ‘draconian’ PIP mobility plans (members only)
DWP lies to cover tracks on mobility cuts (members only)
There’s also a report on the changes: Emergency Stop from We Are Spartacus.
Plus the Hardest Hit are running a campaign to get people to contact their MPs about the change, which is likely to see many thousands of disabled claimants lose their independence.

Dear rob,
In this edition we have news that ESA work-related activity group (WRAG) claimants can now be forced to undertake mandatory work for the good of the community, without time limits. There’s also the hard-faced decision by the coalition to limit ESA uprating to 1% per annum for the next three years.
Plus we learn that the DWP received legal advice two years ago that all medicals should be recorded on demand, not just ESA ones.
We have good news from Carer Watch: Pat’s Petition for a debate on welfare reform has succeeded by an unexpected route and they are now asking for your support. In addition, we have a magnificent 900+ page collection of DLA and AA case law digests for all of those of you who are in the process of appealing.

Even the bloody cabbys are at it now.
If there's one thing that's guaranteed to piss me off it's arseholes that park in disabled parking spots just so they can be 20 yards closer to the shops door.
Poor things, my heart bleeds.
I've had a blue badge for nine years now and I really hate the arrogant idiots that think it's ok to take a disabled spot as they "only want a pack of fags".
And for those of you that think it's just as easy for people like me to walk that few yards extra, no it fucking well isn't.

Is this the UK's Worst Cemetery ?
All 34 photos are now added, scroll down and click read more. It may take a while longer to write what I think so please bear with me.
On our recent trip to Snowdonia we passed the Llanbeblig Cemetery in Caernarfon 4 or 5 times a day. I like to walk round graveyards, I find it peaceful and it gives me a sense of being alive.
This place, however, left me in a state of shock and disgust. I have never in my life seen so much disrespect for the dead, or the living.
I also wanted to pay my respects at the war graves. From what I could find out there are over 30 dead heroes buried here, I couldn't even find them.
A quote from the council :-
That was in 2005 after 14 members of the Welsh Guard cleared the cemetery on their return from Iraq, councillor Owen appears to have done nothing.
I also want to mention the citizens of Caernarfon, what the hell is the matter with you people ?
Get off your lazy arses and do something about it. For gods sake, it's drunken kids and junkies. Or do you care so little about your dead ?
You can read my wifes opinion over at Picking Oranges :- Caernarfon has no respect for it's dead
Edmund Burke was right.
Says it all really.

Councillor Owen sees the clear-up as the first stage in cutting down on anti-social behaviour in the area.
"The state of the cemetery has been bothering me for about six years, there is no respect for the place whilst it is like this," he said.

London's burning. An old gits view.
Let's clear up a little misconception about the 'riots'.
The Saturday night 'riot' followed a peaceful vigil by a few hundred people with regards to the shooting of Mark Duggan, whether it was a justified shooting remains to be seen, I honestly don't think the 'riot' was anything to do with that.
From what I've seen it was a bunch of dickheads taking advantage of a situation.
The 'riots' across London last night were also nothing to do with the Duggan shooting, last night was an organized raid on a vulnerable city.
Over 150 people have been arrested over the weekend and i doubt even half of them will get prison time, as far as I'm concerned they should lock them up and misplace the key.
I have the utmost respect for the police and I think it's disgusting they have to put up with so much crap from joe public. They're doing the best they can with the resources they have and they have to work within ridiculous guidelines.
Maybe we should let the military have a little go at keeping the peace in London. It really is time to crack a few heads.
I hear a lot about the government should be pouring money into the community so the young people have a place to go, gimme a fucking break, stop pussy footing about, save the money and build a few prisons so we at least have somewhere to put the little shits.
It's this namby pamby, do gooder attitude that's got this country in the state it's in now. If the youth of today were taught respect and common decency we would not have so many problems. The criminal has as many, if not more, rights than the victim. The education system fails to teach anything about the real world, and from what I see around me some parents just don't care.
We have kids killing other kids, they get a couple of years in the laughing academy then they're back on the street.
I was born in the 50's and grew up in the 60's, I was taught respect and discipline at school and at home.
This day and age ? Schools have had their teeth pulled by the government and parents think mummy's little soldier is just acting out if he breaks the law.
Give power back to the schools and the police and maybe parents will follow suit.
